K/1st/2nd Basketball Finishes Season

The Central Plumas Recreation and Park District's K/1st/2nd grade basketball program finished another season this last week.  The program, which is designed to introduce young kids to basketball in a clinic format, was held at the Plumas-Sierra Fairgrounds once a week for eight weeks and had thirty-five participants in all.  The weekly clinic is made possible through a partnership between CPRPD and Feather River College baseball.  Each week a group of baseball players, directed by head coach Terry Baumgartner and assistant coach Jason Gay, volunteer their time to help teach the fundamentals of basketball and give kids an opportunity to get some exercise in the winter.

"I can't say enough about the job that Coach Baumgartner, Coach Gay and their guys did this season.  They have been running this program for several years now, and always do a great job.  Collaboration like this within the community is a necessity to make these programs happen.  It is selfless volunteerism like these coaches and players have displayed that continues to allow kids in our community to have the opportunity to participate in activities that promote health and well-being.  A big thanks to everyone that helped out, and also thank you to the Plumas-Sierra Fairgrounds for providing us with a facility" said Recreation and Sports Coordinator, Jeren Seibel.
