The LOST SIERRA MOUNTAINEER

Central Plumas Recreation and Park District is hosting the Lost Sierra Mountaineer Fun Run this year at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds.  The Mountaineer is 2.5 or 5 miles of obstacles and fun. Runners will come across obstacles like bucket carries, walls, tire flips, and many others.  There will be 12+ obstacles and a slip n slide, totaling one awesome day.

15 runners every 10 minutes

Runners need to be prepared to get wet and dirty!

Guardians must fill out the Guardian release form for youth to participate in this event. This form is turned in at the registration table the day of the event.

  • IS THERE A FEE TO PARK?
Parking is $5 per vehicle.  Pay as you enter. Cash only
  • WHY AM I CHARGED PROCESSING FEES?
The fee is charged by the online registration platform to cover credit card processing fees and CPI compliance.
  • WHAT TIME DOES THE RACE START?
Registration and gates will be open at 9:30am. Opening announcements will begin at 10:50am and the first wave will be released
at 11:00am. Waves of 15 will take off every 10 minutes.
  • WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE TO RACE?
Minimum age is 8. Youth must have guardian-signed release form at the time of check-in. **No one is allowed on the course or obstacles before, during, or after the event if they are not a paid, registered participant. Please do not leave any kids unattended during the event.
  • WILL THERE BE A PLACE TO STORE MY BELONGINGS?
No. However, your vehicles will be close enough to walk to for easy access. 
  • DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING TO THE RACE?
Yes, a picture ID is needed to check-in for the race and for a 21 and over wrist band for beer. It is a good idea to bring a towel, extra change of clothes, and a trash bag to keep dirty clothes in. You will want to stick around! There will be local vendors, food, and beverages available.
  • WILL WATER BE PROVIDED?
Yes, we will have 2 water stations throughout the course. There will also be water to purchase for $1.00 at the food vendors.
  • HOW TOUGH IS THE COURSE?
Our goal is to challenge you and push you to your limits with a combination of running broken up by various obstacles. The course is designed for people of all fitness levels to enjoy and have a good time. There will be plenty of volunteers at each obstacle to give you a hand if you need it, but be sure to give it your best effort!
  • CAN I GO AROUND AN OBSTACLE?
You will not be forced to participate in anything you do not feel comfortable with. We encourage all participants to compete at their comfort level. There will be plenty of volunteers on the obstacles there to encourage you or help you to the next step. The bottom line is to have FUN!
  • CAN WE BRING OUR OWN ALCOHOL?
No outside alcohol will be allowed due to liability issues.
  • ARE DOGS ALLOWED AT THE EVENT?
Sorry, there are NO dogs allowed at the MOUNTAINEER, so please leave them at home. (Service dogs are allowed)
  • CAN WE PICK UP OUR RACE PACKET THE DAY OF THE RACE?
Yes, you will pick up your packet the day of the race. Please arrive at the venue 30 minutes before your start time. Be prepared to stand in line for a while!
  • IS THERE SIGN UPS FOR WAVE TIMES?
There are starting times from 11 am to 2 pm.  15 people will be released every 10 mins.
  • WHAT TYPE OF SHOES SHOULD I WEAR?
We recommend that participants wear shoes that they do not mind getting wet and dirty. Because you will be running 5 miles, however, your shoes should be dependable and supportive.
  • AM I ABLE TO RINSE OFF AFTER MY RACE?
Yes – We will provide a rinse off station, but if you want to avoid the lines bring extra clothes to change into! FYI, the water is not warm...
  • IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE TO DO?
Yes!! There will be plenty to do! We will have local vendors, food, beverages.
  • WILL THERE BE A PHOTOGRAPHER ON SITE TAKING PICTURES OF THE PARTICIPANTS?
There will be several photographers taking pictures throughout the course. We cannot guarantee that they will get a picture of everyone though. Be sure to have friends or family members not participating in the race ready with their cameras as you cross the finish line! All pictures will be available on our Facebook page after the event.
  • CAN A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER, NOT REGISTERED, TAKE PICTURES ON THE COURSE?
Only registered participants are allowed on the course due to safety and liability. There will be several observation areas where friends and family can take pictures.
